About me
My passion for environmental science began when I was young. I remember seeing incredible scientists dive to cut plastic off trapped sea creatures and I knew I wanted to make a difference in the world like them. It was when I took a marine biology course and learned to scuba dive in college that I rediscovered my passion for helping our planet.
This became even more important to me as my hometown in Northern California became plagued with annual, highly destructive fire seasons. Experiencing first-hand these detrimental climate disasters and watching my loved ones being displaced while the natural environment was destroyed made me develop an interest in climate action and adaptation. Majoring in Environmental Studies and Communication at UC Santa Barbara has further expanded my passion for environmental science.
My experiences at UCSB TV and The Oak Leaf gave me valuable practice in journalistic writing, and I furthered my skills by joining UCSB's Professional Writing minor program with a focus in business communication. In the spring, I had the opportunity to intern with UCSB’s Sustainability Department, teaching me more about environmental protection and advocacy. In my courses and experience, I'm developing my knowledge in environmental science to pursue a career where I can help the world around me and prevent environmental disasters and damage through environmental activism.
